Baldur’s Gate 3 players are expressing dissatisfaction over the quantity of content dedicated to the Origin character Wyll compared to other characters in the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3, a favorite amongst RPG players, is acknowledged for a vast variety of content. With its numerous companions that players can bring along in their journey, many remain hidden from most players, contributing to the excitement of the game.
The game's characters Astarion and Karlach are particularly appealing to players due to their fascinating personal histories and potential for developing into intriguing romance options.
However, the case is not the same for all characters. The Origin character Wyll, according to some players, is given less attention in the game. They argue that the character’s role is not as rich in content as it should be.
Wyll Receives Unfair Treatment in Baldur’s Gate 3
A dedicated player reported that Wyll deserved a better role in the game after completing two full rounds of the game. The player found the content about Wyll quite lacking on the second play.
On breaking down the dialogues between each Origin companion, the player discovered that Astarion has over 12 hours of voice lines, similarly for Shadowheart. Lae’zel and Karlach have more than 10 hours of dialogue each. However, Wyll has a mere 8 1/2 hours of similar content.
Wyll’s character in Baldur’s Gate 3 lacks similar emphasis in romance scenes compared to other characters. The player continued, "Wyll is the only character that lacks an intimacy scene, the closest we get to one consists of literally rolling around on the ground."
The character Wyll lacks attention even in his own character arc. "Wyll’s Act 3 revolves more around the Emperor than himself... He quite literally takes a backseat to the Emperor in his own storyline," the player added.
Many other players have similar opinions as they too believe that Wyll’s character is not emphasized enough in this popular RPG.
Additionally, other characters like Gale and Karlach are more memorable due to their lack of content. For example, players can perform magic and stargaze with Gale, however, such engaging scenes are missing from Wyll’s storyline.
Another player noted, "Wow. I knew Wyll was not given enough attention, but I didn’t realize it was THIS bad." Most players seem to agree that Wyll's character deserved better representation in the game.
